Livestreamed during the Covid-19 safer at home order in Los Angeles from ArtShareLA.
Jas Lin and Kyoko Takenaka presented a multi-media show utilizing ArtShare’s stage and backstage area along with interactive elements on zoom - all to a virtual audience.
Cavern [穴] is an exploration of creating and entering sacred space, exploring the resonant feelings in one’s 2020 quarantine body of “nothing to do, nothing to fix,” and the hustle and bustle of salary businessmen going back to work.

RESCORED: A FILM AND MUSIC PERFORMANCE

Japanese American National Museum
Curated by Joel Quizon in partnership with VC Media and Cinema Musica, Rescored: A Film and Music Performance invited
groundbreaking composers to perform live alternative scores for short films from Visual Communications’ award-winning archive of Asian-American films shot in and around Little Tokyo from the 1930's to today.
Composers included Winston Raval, Diwa de Leon, Joy Ngiaw, and Kyoko Takenaka, who all improvised a live score to CITY CITY (Duane Kubo / USA / 1974 / 12 mins) together.
Kyoko created a live score to MOCHI MONSTER, a film about a radioactive mochi-monster that disrupts Japanese new year’s in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles; and LITTLE TOKYO HOME MOVIES, featuring footage from pre-world war II Los Angeles.

Rooted Love: A Night of Cultural Resistance Through Music,
Visual and Performance Art
A sensory-inspired night of visual, musical and oral storytelling. Presented by Jinjabrew in collaboration with local artists and cultural workers, this performance exists in the form of original music, poetry, live painting and meditative ceremony. These works of art offer a deep and reverent contemplation on the relationship between our identities, our memories, our sense of belonging, and the ancestral wounds we inherit. By making peace with our pain and acknowledging the diverging aspects of our cultural traditions, this journey is dedicated to tuning in with the vibration of love and healing the bondages that will allow us to renew and reclaim the roots of our being.
